ITEMS TO GET: Light Arrows, Giant Mask, 15 fairies

Before you can enter Stone Tower Dungeon, you must first go through Stone Tower, so take the northeast exit from Ikana Canyon once you have the Elegy of Emptiness. The area may look intimidating, but progress is simple: alternate between forms of Link (aside from Deku Link - he's too light to activate a switch) and play the Elegy to keep the switches pressed. Don't skip any switches and hookshot your way upwards when necessary. Eventually, you'll reach an owl statue and three switches across from the dungeon entrance. Looking toward the entrance, play the Elegy while on the right, left, and then center switch. Hop your way across the properly aligned platforms and enter Stone Tower Dungeon.

Before you walk down the ramp, take care of the Dragonflies with a pair of arrows. Don't worry about running out of arrows, as the boxes and plants in the northeast corner of the room will always regenerate and give you more. Head through the west door. When dealing with Bombchus (like the ones in here), simply get your shield up and let them bounce off it and explode. After you've destroyed the bombchus, bomb the wall directly across from the entrance if it hasn't already been blown up. Be sure to leave the smaller boxes alone when breaking the larger ones will rolling attacks. Pick up a smaller box and place it on one of the smaller switches, then do the same with the other box. Play the Elegy of Emptiness while standing on the last small switch as Zora or normal Link and on larger switch as Goron Link to finally open the door.

In the courtyard, take out the Guay and the Dragonfly with arrows, then cut down the plants - one of these should give you bombs. use a bomb to blow up the discolored square without plants on it, then either drop down the hole or run down the stairs to the north. Shine light on the sun block to remove it, then either hookshot over to the chest or run across the lava as Goron Link to claim the map. As Goron Link, awaken and then kill the the four Armos by punching them. Key the small key from a chest that appears and use it on the locked door in the courtyard.

Switch to Zora Link and jump into the water, then let the Dexihand guarding the northeast entrance throw you out of the water. Get a key from the chest next to you and head back through the exit under the Dexihand. Surface in the next room and climb onto the bridge; ignore the locked door for now and stand under the light. To the south is the first of a few trick mirrors - they don't reflect light so much as store it for a time equal to how long you shone light on it. Reflect the light off your shield onto the mirror for 10 seconds and the reflection will remain there for 10 seconds for you to reflect yet again elsewhere. Shine light onto the mirror for a few seconds, then run up and reflect it onto the sun block to clear a path to the chest with the compass. The door ahead leads back to the first room, so turn around and head back to the locked door.

This time black boes will try to interrupt you while you shine light onto the mirrors. Punch out the pillar as Goron Link, then kill the black boes and shine the light on the left of the two center mirrors. Wait until the black boes respawn and knock your shield away, then kill it and rush forward to reflect the mirror's light onto the sun block to the north. This may take a few tries, but when successful, exit to the north. Switch to Deku Link and ride the wind currents until you reach the southwest corner of the room and head through the door.

Inside you'll find a Garo Master waiting to attack you. He moves much faster than the various Garo in Ikana Valley and has flaming swords as well. Keep your shield up at all times and keep moving; when he charges, sidestep and wait a second for him to slice outwards wth his swords. After that, jump in with a slash and get your guard up again. When he leaps into the air, move quickly out of the way. Victory earns you a bit of advice -- listen carefully -- and the light arrows.

Exit through the south door, kill the Hiploop and, if low on hearts, smash the pots beneath. Equip the bow and exit again to the south to confront an Eyegore. Get close to turn his eye yellow, then jump back quickly before he strikes and hit his eye with an arrow while Z-targeting. Four hits will end him and allow you to get back into the main room southern door. Kill the bombchu, then jump to the ladder to the left of the sun emblem and exit the temple.

Step on the right switch as you face away from the entrance (to the west) to reveal the red eye the Garo Master spoke of. Play the Elegy of Emptiness to keep the switch pushed, then run to one of the blocks next to the eye and shoot it with a light arrow. Marvel at the reversed tower, smash the rock behind you for some arrows, then make the seemingly impossible jumps back across the platforms to re-enter the inverse temple.

Once inside the temple, grab some magic refills to the left and then exit to the east. Shoot the sun block with a light arrow and switch to Deku Link. Ride the wind currents around the bridge above you, then land on top of it and head north. Step on the switch and collect a key from the chest that appears, then ride the wind currents again to the locked down in the upper-northwest corner of the room. Send a light arrow into the red eye across the next room, run across the lava as Goron Link, shoot the eye again, and exit. Note the block in the southeast corner of this room, then shoot the red eye. Push the block forward a few spaces while killing the Chuchus, then check the ceiling to make sure the block will fall outside of the lowered area where it began and onto the lighter, raised area. Flip the room, push the block north across the middle and down a level, and flip the room again. Push the block as far as possible to the northwest, then flip the room and push it into the square gap in the corner. Climb the block and jump onto the ledge and through the now-open door.

Here you'll face the third and toughest of the Wizrobes, be careful not to stand underneath the falling lava. Switch to normal arrows and take up in the northeast corner of the room, to the right of the entrance. Kill him as you did the others, then hookshot to the chest that appears and go down the stairs. Don't Z-target the Poes or they'll disappear; just hit them with your sword or manually aimed arrows. After killing the one around the Deku Flower, fly across the room as Deku Link, taking care to avoid the other two Poes. Don't rush to the door, though -- instead use the Deku Flower to launch into the area in the southeast where you first played the elegy to open the courtyard door. You can A) use the Stone Mask to stay hidden from the Death Armos, B) run past them frantically, or C) shoot them with light arrows to flip them, then dodge their attempt to smash you while upside down and watch them explode. Pick one and find the switch to the far south, then play the Elegy while standing on it and hookshot to the chest on your left for a small key. Go back to the main part of the room (with the flowers) and finally exit to the east.

In the next room, use your hookshot or an arrow to make two of the mines crash into each other and detonate. Fly to the platform they blocked as Deku Link, then fly around the remaining mine and to the other side of the room. Kill the Blue Bubbles in the next room with arrows -- using light arrows nets you 50 rupees each -- and break the boxes to store up on supplies for the next mini-boss.

Gomess can be a pain if you fight too aggressively or still have a short magic meter, so be patient. Equip light arrows and the Bunny Hood if you have it, then shoot him with a light arrow between attacks. If it connects, the bats surrounding him will move back enough for you to rush in and land a jumping slash to the green spot at his center. Be careful, though, as the arrows by no means stun him, just open him up to attack. He'll also counter quickly if hurt, so move back right after attacking. If you run out of magic or arrows, kill some of the swarming bats he sends if you move too far away; a few piddling hearts can be found in the pots in each corner of the room. Defeat him to open the door to the big key.

Fly back across the room with the three hanging mines. Assuming you've already gotten the key in the south part of the next room, ignore the west door and look for one in the southwest corner and go through it instead. You'll see a Death Armos patrolling a small platform with a switch. Hit the armos with a light arrow to flip it, then use the enhanced jumping abilities of either Zora Link or the Bunny Hood to reach the platform and dodge the Armos' attack. Step on the switch and hookshot to the chest that appears, then go through the locked door to the north and fight another Eyegore.

This Eyegore is faster and meaner than the first, use your shield to block his eyebeams, then repeat your earlier strategy of getting close enough to trigger an attack, then getting out of the way and shooting his now-yellow eye with an arrow. Be sure to move back enough to dodge the flying rocks his attacks cause. Killing him earns you the Giant Mask and passage into the next room. Shoot the switch in front of you with an arrow when the spinning log is out of the way, then hookshot to the chest that appears. Hookshot to the ring on the ceiling across the room to get past the next spike log, then drop down and kill the Beamos behind you to access some item-bearing pots. When ready, unlock the boss door and have the giant mask equipped.

BOSS: TWINMOLD

Jump into the sandy beyond and gaze in awe at the pair of giant worms, then don your Ginat Mask to become... Giant Link! Unfortunately, the power of being Giant Link consumes magic, so be aggressive and attack the head or tail of each worm as it passes. If you run out of magic and shrink, more can be found at the broken stone pillars. Getting hit doesn't do much damage, so you shouldn't have too much trouble claiming the last set of remains and a heart container.

Or, if you are a GIA-caliber Zelda player, you can stand in the desert and use your bow and arrows to kill Twinmold as normal Link. Z-targeting is somewhat useless because of the speed they move at, so you'll just have to aim manually. Constant movement will also be necessary, as Twinmold will more often than not appear underneath you or charge right at you. Have fun!
