ITEMS TO GET: 7877 gil, Ether, Remedy, Wing Eyes, Topaz, Peridot
You're now in control of the ship, which gives you mostly free run of the world map -- the ship can dock at any beach. You can also finally pick and choice your party members; press Triangle while sailing and talk to Cid to switch characters. (To resume sailing, talk to Frank.) Note that Garnet is currently suffering from some sort of curse, and about 75% of the time, she'll do nothing instead of performing whatever action you assigned you. On the other hand, she has a slew of new call spells (remember the gems that Toto gave her?), so you might want to include her in your party anyway.
Note: If you enter the Lindbulm waterway from the world map, you'll see that the door shuts behind you. To get back out, just talk to the man in blue next to the door. You'll then be able to use the Circle button to open the door and walk outside. This is not a bug as previously reported, just a design oddity.

If you sail around to the northeast side of the Mist Continent, you'll find a harbor / cave on the wall. Use the X button to enter; go right and ride the statue. You'll end up inside in the left tower of Alexandria Castle (the only part of that's still standing). Search the rubble of the right tower for a Peridot, then take the boat into town. There's 4832 gil and a Topaz hidden beneath the stairs (at the same spots where you found gil at the start of Disc 3). Head south into the marketplace; there's 365 gil on the stairs on the right and a Remedy in the lower-right. To the south, you'll find an Ether in the rubble; and there's 2860 gil in the underground bar where Ruby is. The shopkeepers are also still available; the item shop is on the left square of the marketplace, and the blacksmith is in the alley beside the bar. Finally, check out the church; if VIVI is in your party, you can play the jump rope game here.

Take the ship to the snowy continent in the upper-left corner of the map. Park at the only beach, grab a Chocobo, and ride west to Esto Gaza. There's not much down to do here right now, but if you check out the weapon shop (inside, on the room on the right), you can buy a Mithril Knuckle for Salamander and Mithril Rackets for Garnet and Eiko. There's also a Wing Eyes boomerang hidden in the upper-right corner.
There's also a third Qu's Marsh that's now available; it's located in the chain of islands in the southwest quadrant of the map. You can work on building on up your frog count here. The later segments of the lengthy Chocobo are now available as well.
