Sidequest Frog-Catching More walkthrough

There are four Qu's Marshes scattered about the world; they all have almost identical layouts, though the Quen family residence is only found at the one near Lindbulm. The four marshes can be found south of Gizamaluke's Grotto, east of Conde Petie, north of the Black Garuda landing point on the Forgotten Continent, and on an island near Daguerreo.

At Qu's Marsh, you can play a frog-catching game if Quina is in your party. The goal here is to simply pounce on frogs with the Circle button. You have no time limit, so you can spend as much time as you want; to end the game, walk out of the area and choose the first option when Zidane speaks.

As you collect frogs, they're added to the running total displayed at the top of the screen. At certain frog milestones, Quina's wife Queru will enter and reward you with an item. The marshes' frog populations regenerate over time; note that you can catch them as tadpoles and still receive a point for them. (However, the tadpoles rarely move out of the pond and are very difficult to catch.) Each marsh has its own frog population, so catching frogs becomes easier once you have access to several marshes.

   * When you collect 99 frogs, Queru will enter, but instead of giving you an item, she'll attack you! This is actually quite a difficult battle; Queru has 70,000 HP and some powerful water spells. Be sure to bring Eiko for Esuna; it can cure all of the status changes that Queru will inflict on you (Confusion, Poison, Sleep, Minimum, and Silence). If you arm Eiko with Silence Guard and Confusion Guard, you'll be able to keep casting spells no matter what Queru tries to do. The Remedy item can also cure most of the status changes, but it can't heal confused characters. Queru carries a number of useful items to steal, including the Robuubu Rod (the same one you can get for 10,000 Chocobo points) -- but don't expect to get the Rod unless you have a lot of patience; you may spend an hour trying to steal it form her. The other items are fairly easy to swipe.

When you do 70,000 HP damage to Queru, you'll win the battle and receive the maximum amount of experience, 65,535 (divided among all the standing party members, of course). Queru then gives you the Gastro Fork; it seems to be Quina's best weapon. You can continue to catch frogs and add to your frog counter, however, so it's possible that there may be even more items to win.
