Atlus announces Growlanser II
[03.09.01] » PlayStation 2 sequel to make its debut at Spring
Tokyo Game Show.
With a record low number of titles on display and
few expected surprises, this Spring's Tokyo Game Show will be one
of the most low key in recent memory. Despite the PlayStation 2 going
into its second year in Japan, the bulk of the titles on the show
floor will still be for the original PlayStation. But, in addition
to Namco's two new titles, at least
one other PlayStation 2 RPG will make its debut at the show.
In addition to the recently released Eithea and
the upcoming port of Shin Megami Tensei,
Atlus will be unveiling the PlayStation 2 sequel to Growlanser.
A strategy RPG for the PlayStation, Growlanser was most notable for
its pedigree -- the game was developed by a team who previously had
worked on the long-running and popular Langrisser series, which hasn't
seen a U.S release since Warsong on the Genesis.
Though the original Growlanser never made it to
America, Atlus is still committed
to bringing strategy games stateside. Perhaps the more cutting edge
sequel will fare better.
