Well, the mail came in about the possibility I mentioned last week, that of moving Sketch Artist over to the Community section, and the majority of readers seemed to think SA was better off right where it was. And hey - who am I to argue? It appears Sketch Artist will be staying right here, at least for the time being. Thanks for the input!

   A rather spectacular collection of artwork today, mostly from familiar names, and just one new contributor. That would be Bob Mackey with "Contemplation", which features Squall drawn in a way you might not expect. Also on the rather unusual side of today's update is Darkenedknight's "FF3/6 Females in Towels". Interesting concept there, hmm? ;) Another subject which is unusual by his very nature is Star Ocean 2's "Ashton", whom Vera Laluz has portrayed in marker. Also, Petra Rödig gives us a light-hearted (and very cute) peek at a pair of BoF3 characters, in "My Big Friend".

   Edison Yan has a second Rinoa picture in today's update, drawn in pencil with exquisite detail. Zedelia has another beautiful Lunar CG piece already with "Dragonmaster". And finally, Bryce Bartley and Laura dazzle us with "Kain" and "Fukei", respectively. By a strange coincidence, since Celes is also in today's update, I get to put up pictures of my three favorite Square heroes ever in one day!

   And now, I know this is a bit unorthodox on a gaming site, but this is a forum for art, and animation is art, so... both I and another GIA staffer saw a movie over the weekend that we really think more people need to know about. You may have seen the ads for The Iron Giant, and thought it was another watered-down kiddy fantasy movie. Like the geek I am, I ended up buying a ticket to see it more or less for the Pokémon trailer - and was quite impressed by how cool the actual movie itself was. This is not your typical American animated film with the lighthearted songs, talking animals, and a sweet happy ending. This film's got an edge rarely seen in American animation, and deserves to be seen by more than just the Disney crowd. I could go on for awhile about exactly why, but you're not here for that - you're just here for the artwork. So with that plug, I leave you to enjoy the gallery...
