Mike Wallace. Bob Woodward. Jonathan Alter. I am not those people. You can't really call what I do "journalism," because it's all entertainment-related. And with a very few exceptions, it's all videogame-related. So no, my stuff is not Important, but it does have two things going for it. First, it's fun. I like playing videogames. Given a choice between writing about games for a living, or hacking out device drivers for Lexmark, I'd take the games. And second, it pays money. Videogames are fun, but they're not free. Writing about them gives me enough money here and there to keep playing them--if that's a vicious cycle, it's one I can live with. I've been published mainly in four venues. Most of my stuff is on the Gaming Intelligence Agency, a very respectable fansite where I worked as an editor for a little over a year. These days, I only do freelance work here and there for megasite Gamers.com, except when I'm interning there during the summers. I also did a short stint as videogame reviewer for the Daily Mississippian, the campus newspaper--but much of that was just warmed-over, thinly disguised GIA work. The music and movie reviews there, however, are original. Finally, I did three game previews for Ziff-Davis' Official PlayStation Magazine, about which the less said the better.
