Xenogears debug code

[08.17.99] » With Final Fantasy VII's debug room discovered, another intrepid GameShark hacker discovers a debug room within Xenogears. Screens and code included.

A few weeks ago, two intrepid GameShark hackers discovered a code which allowed players to access a previously undiscovered debug room within Final Fantasy VII. Square now appears to have put debug rooms in most of their recent titles, as another hacker appropriately known as Ramsus85 has discovered the code necessary to activate Xenogears' debug area. (Screens below). The GameShark code necessary is:

    8004F34C 0000

The debug room is essentially identical in function to FF VII's room, but is far more intuitive -- debug flags and options are easy to figure out. With the code, one can modify one's party members (this shot shows Chu-Chu leading two versions of Citan around), access virtually any point in the game, view any facial graphic, choose different gears, hear all sound effects, and play with pitch bends and modify tempos while listening to every song in the game. (We've created an example here.)

To enter the debug room, simply enter the above code into a GameShark and boot up the game. Once the logo disappears, you'll begin in the debug room. It may be necessary to deactivate the GameShark at some point to prevent freezing. The debug room can also be entered at any point in the game simply by entering a room after the GameShark (with inputted code) is turned on.

For those without GameSharks, we've captured 16 screens to illustrate the debug area. Please note, however, that we are unable to assist with any problems you may have using this code. Thanks to korn_guy for the news tip.
