Resident Evil passes Ogre Battle 3
[04.28.99] » The Nintendo 64 port of Resident Evil 2 will utilize the system's biggest catridge ever.
Less than a week ago, Ogre Battle 3 claimed the crown of the largest N64 catridge with the previously unheard of 320 megabit cartridge. A mere six days later, the system is crowning a new catridge champion: Capcom's Angel Studios-developed port of Resident Evil 2, set to ship on a 512 (64 MB) catridge.
Besides providing even more storage, the new 512 megabit catridge holds significance for two other regions: First, it will house the first N64 game to ever use significant amounts of FMV, and, secondly, the 64 MB size is identical to proposed disk size for the ill-fated 64DD peripheral. If the 64DD ever does reach completion (an increasingly unlikely proposition), the sole advantage to its advantage will be writability -- size is no longer a factor.
