Star Ocean 2 officially announced

[03.29.99] » Sony finally confirms its translation of Enix's popular RPG.

   A North American release of Star Ocean 2 has already been all but confirmed, but now it's official. Sony today announced that it would be bringing Enix's Star Ocean: The Second Story to North America later this year. Developed by Tri-Ace (also responsible for Namco's Tales series), Star Ocean 2 was released to great commercial and critical success last year in Japan.

   "Star Ocean: The Second Story promises to be another Enix masterpiece, with a level of detail that will impress even the most experienced RPG fan while offering a great experience for the more casual gamer," said Ami Blaire, director of product marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America.

   Babbage's is currently listing Star Ocean 2 with a June 15, 1999 release date. Although not official, the listing apparently comes directly from Sony and can be assumed to be at least close to the actual date.
