New Square RPG revealed

[03.12.99] » The GIA has the first pictures of Square's latest RPG -- and fans of Seiken Densetsu are sure to be pleased.

   The latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu features an unusual ad by Square. The ad consists of a fairy tale-like background depicting a young girl, and the text "Are you waiting for another dream tale?" The game's logo remains intentionally concealed behind the graphics, leaving few clues.

    The ad depicts a single tree, leading many to believe the game is the next game in the Seiken Densetsu series. Always a source of rumors, the series has been dormant since the third installment that was released in 1995.

   Also in Famitsu are screen shots from Saga Frontier II and artwork from two demos included with it. One of the demos is Racing Lagoon, and the other is of the unknown title that strongly appears to be the next Seiken Densetsu title.

   It's too early to be certain about the exact identity of the game. We will likely find out for sure during the Tokyo Game Show, which begins one week from today, the 19th. Until then, feel free to speculate while looking at the images.
