Legend of the River King sunk
[03.10.99] » Natsume's innovative fishing-RPG may stay out of North American waters.
Yet another blow has come to the Nintendo 64's RPG selection (or lack thereof), as Natsume recently informed IGN64 that its fishing-RPG title Legend of the River King was unlikely to see a North American release. While Natsume divulged no reason for the apparent cancellation, IGN64 speculated that Nintendo was none too thrilled with the game's 2D map screens (despite the actual fishing scenes being in 3D).
A fishing-RPG may still be in North American gamers' futures, however. The developers of Legend of the River King are hard at work on a sequel, entitled Legend of the Sea King. The newer game features a 3D world map, which may increase its chances of reaching the North American shore.
