Last Bible headed for North America

[03.04.99] » Atlus readies an English translation and a name change for its Game Boy Color side story to the Megami Tensei series.

While rumors continue to fly about a possible North American release for Persona 2, Atlus has officially announced a translation for another game in the vast Megami Tensei series: Megami Tensei Last Bible, to be retitled Revelations: The Demon Slayer for its English release. Released back in 1992 in Japan, Last Bible (and its sequel) were recently upgraded to make full use of the Game Boy Color's abilities. The North American versions of the games will, of course, also feature the color graphics.

Set in medieval times on the fifth planet of a faraway solar system, Revelations: The Demon Slayer tells the story of a race of people who are able to wield a mysterious power called "Gaia". Protected by a magical orb that maintained peace and orb, these people lived in happines until the ever-present forces of evil attempted to use the power of Gaia.

Details on the actual gameplay are sketchy, but it is known that at least one classic Megami Tensei feature will be included: the ability to talk to enemies. Unlike the Persona series, however, the monsters actually join your party, rather than giving you Spell Cards. More competitive gamers will appreciate the addition of a battle mode, where you can pit your monsters against a friend's via the Game Link.

Revelations: The Demon Slayer is actually the first in a series of three Game Boy games. Only the first one has been announced for a North American release thus far, but if it sells well, the others will likely follow.
