The wait is over. Square Electronic Arts has finally announced its first release for 1999 -- Ehrgeiz. For those of who who've missed our previous reports, the home version of arcade fighter Ehrgeiz features a number of characters from Final Fantasy VII -- Cloud, Tifa, Zack, Yuffie, Sephiroth, Vincent, and a Red XIII look-alike -- in addition to Ehrgeiz's main cast. In addition to the added characters, the PlayStation version also features a number of other improvements, including a Tobal 2-style quest mode.
Due out in May, Ehrgeiz is currently the only upcoming game Square EA has officially announced apart from Final Fantasy VIII. The company plans to release at least five more titles by the end of the year.
Please note that while we felt the news of Ehrgeiz's English release was worth a mention since the game contains so many FF VII characters, GIA will not be featuring full coverage of Ehrgeiz, as fighting games don't fall within our focus.
