Mr. Domino ships

[12.01.98] » Acclaim ships quirky Artdink puzzler.

GLEN COVE, N.Y., November 30, 1998 -Acclaim Entertainment (NASDAQ:AKLM), a leading worldwide interactive entertainment company, announced that outbreaks of "Mr. Domino" addiction have been reported nationwide, coinciding with the release of Acclaim's PlayStation title, No One Can Stop Mr. Domino. Mr. Domino shipped to stores today nationwide and is available for a special, family-friendly, suggested retail price of $29.99.

In No One Can Stop Mr. Domino, your goal is to strategically place dominos around the level, then topple them to trigger a number of switches before the timer runs out. The player is rewarded for every switch activated by a domino with a humorous "cinema" or a wacky event. If the dominos are positioned correcly they will knock over another dominos and keep the chain going for combination bonus points.

Created by veteran PlayStation developer, Artdink (Tail of the Sun), early preview copies of Mr. Domino have caused outbreaks of Mr. Domino addiction among the gaming press. In the November 1998 issue of Official PlayStation Magazine, Mr. Domino is ranked #2 on their "What We're Playing Now" List, finishing only behind Konami's Metal Gear. According to OPM editors, "... the game just has that simple yet addictive puzzle-game feel to it that's hard to put into words and equally hard to stop playing. Mr. Domino is quite possibly the sleeper hit of the season."
