As revealed in our earlier news story, Konami's Vandal Hearts 2 has been protected with software programming which disables the game from booting if a mod chip is discovered in the PlayStation's hardware. The game is the third American title to be protected (after Dino Crisis and the accompanying Resident Evil 3 demo). Since then, a far shorter series of GameShark codes to bypass the protection has been created, courtesy of "Code Master":

  • D0040C90 000B
  • 80040C92 1000

Additionally, it has been discovered that the codes are not necessary once a player has saved a game on an inserted memory card; if a saved game is discovered during the PlayStation boot-up sequence, the lockout programming is bypassed.

Unfortunately, the GIA cannot provide assistance with the codes should any problems arise.
