Activision to publish English Alundra 2
[10.14.99] » As strongly rumored, Activision has aquired the rights to a worldwide release of Sony's Alundra 2.
Activision announced today that the company has aquired full rights to a near-worldwide release of the upcoming action-RPG Alundra 2, as strongly rumored a month ago. Estimated for release in Spring 2000, Activision will be publishing the title in all regions, with the exception of Japan and other Asian countries (where SCEI is handling publication).
Developed by Contrail, the same development team behind Legend of Legaia and Wild Arms, Alundra 2 is a distant sequel to the Zelda-inspired Alundra. This time around, Alundra 2 sports a full 3D engine, cartoony cutscene sequences, and a new main character, Flint. One insidious aspect remains, however -- challenging puzzles. In addition, Alundra 2 will contain over 10 mini-games, such as the Indy-style boulder escape game seen in a recent movie capture.
"We are proud to have been selected as Sony Computer Entertainment's third-party publisher for Alundra 2 and look forward to building an on-going relationship with Sony Computer Entertainment," said Activision's executive VP, Mitch Lasky. "The sequel's addictive gameplay and technological advancements will captivate hard-core gamers and casual adventurers alike."
