Another source has provided the GIA with some gameplay details. Alundra 2 reportedly finds everyone's favorite dream hunter, Alundra, having given up the profession. This is hardly surprising, given the first game's death toll. Alundra is now a pirate hunter, searching the high seas in search of evil pirates in need of stopping.

Like Square's Xenogears, the game combines real-time 3D backgrounds with sprite-based characters. The game has a "high-level" overworld map from which the player enters more interactive towns and dungeons. The gameplay itself is still traditional action RPG, although it is currently unknown if the sequel maintains the original's legendary difficulty.

Activision, best known in RPG circles for the quirky Guardian's Crusade, is rumored to be considering Alundra 2 for a 2nd Quarter 2000 U.S. release. Unfortunately, the GIA was unable to confirm this at the time of publication.
