First Legend of Dragoon screens

[09.03.99] » Sony's ambitious upcoming RPG presents a stunning and highly detailed fantasy world.

   Thanks to Weekly Famitsu, the first screen shots and artwork renders of Sony's Legend of Dragoon have emerged. As reported previously, the 4-CD RPG has been secretly in development for three years, and, as evinced below, sports an extremely stylized fantasy-based look. The first and last images below, in particular, show off the game's prowess with CG artistry, while additional screens indicate that the game will utilize 3D polygonal characters upon pre-rendered backgrounds.

   With over 100 team members at Sony readying the game for a December release, comparisons are bound to be drawn between Legend of Dragoon and Square's Final Fantasy VIII. Sony is expected to fully unveil the game at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.
