As mentioned yesterday, Sony Computer Entertainment America revealed its plans for the American release of the PlayStation 2's network adapter. In a conference call, the company further elaborated on the details of their online network.

SCEA will begin preparations for the network through a 1,000-member beta testing program for the network adapter, featuring various online-enabled games such as Twisted Metal Black and Frequency. Sony's plan is to have more than 12 games available for play online by the August launch, with all future SCEA-developed games to have online capabilities.

Sony will divulge even more details about its long-term online plans towards the end of the year or early 2003, discussing the PS2 Hard Disk Drive and other software plans.
