Final Fantasy X release date moves up again

[12.08.01] » Someone at Square seems to have forgotten that to delay a game, you have to push the release date back, not forward.

Though it has been rumored for a few days, Square has confirmed that it will now ship its highly-anticipated PlayStation 2 RPG, Final Fantasy X, on the 18th of December, with the game arriving at most retailers the following day. Previously announced for a December 26th release, a handful of online retailers, including Gamestop and Electronics Boutique changed the date to the 18th late in the week. Gaming Age spoke with Square directly regarding these changes, and found that they do in fact plan on an earlier release for the title. While Square originally planned on having 500,000 copies ready for the December 26th "stealth release", they did not mention whether this number would remain the same for the earlier release. An official confirmation is expected sometime next week via a press release.
