Square reveals yet more Final Fantasy XI details
[10.24.01] » The slow trickle of details continues to do just that.
Square has once yet revealed a few more details regarding the upcoming Final Fantasy XI. Similar to Phantasy Star Online, gamers will be able to customize their character's gender, race, and job. An assortment of human and non-human races will be available, including the creatively named human race "Hume." No job details have been revealed, but given the fact that the game is a Final Fantasy, the normal assortment of mages, theives, and dragoons should appear.
As previously revealed, the world of FFXI will be named Vana Dir, and has been peaceful since a large battle was fought between humans and monsters 20 years prior to the start of the game. Of course, the evil presence of the monsters begins to stir again, forming what will undoubtedly be the basis for the game's as-yet-uncovered plot.
Also revealed amidst the world and character details was the fact that the Japanese version of the game will be bi-lingual, containing both English and Japanese language support. No other details on language support were offered, importers can breathe a heavy sigh of relief.
Final Fantasy XI is currently 65% complete and should be ready to enter beta-testing this winter.
