The GIA archive returns online
[09.06.01] » Just in case you hadn't noticed yet--thanks to the help of our readers and friends,
the GIA archive is back online.
When our website fell prey to severe technical
            and financial difficulties last week,
we cast the GIA signal into the cloudy night sky, and called for help.
And while we knew that we could count on our loyal readers to help
us out of this bind, we never could have anticipated the huge amount
of monetary, technical, and moral support that flooded
our inboxes faster than SirCam virus emails. The GIA extends our deepest
thanks to each and every person who supported us through this difficult time.
The results of your support should already be obvious. The server
is once again up and running, and will be upgraded soon to deal with
the expanded traffic we've picked up over the last year. Our coverage
archive is once again online and 95% complete. We were able to recover almost all of our news stories, letters columns, reviews, and previews. We're still missing
some media and artwork posted during the past six months, but are working hard to patch up those holes as quickly as possible and to get everything in its
right place. In the meantime, please watch out for dead links--we're well aware of what content is missing, and are doing doing our best to
fix these problems as quickly as possible.
As for our donations milestones? Several of the
vaults are already underway, Drew is practicing kowtowing deferentially, and the infamous
Moogle suit, much to Andrew's chagrin, is newly restored and on its way to Japan. We can't give a firm date when
these horribly humiliating trials will be posted, but rest assured:
they will happen. We owe it to you all, and we're going to pay up.

Most importantly, the GIA staff is rested, recharged,
and ready to get back to work. The support we've received from our
readers and friends has strained even our deep and bitter cynicism.
Running a gaming site in our free time (and out-of-pocket) is a trying
task, but this experience has reminded us of why we do it--you,
the readers. Your generosity has exceeded our expectations in every way
imaginable; now, it's up to us to exceed yours. Once again, thank
            you for your support.
