More Tactics Ogre GBA details

[06.12.01] » Another round of information -- and new screenshots -- of Quest's GBA strategy game.

With the release of Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis just over a week away, Quest has released more information on some of the smaller changes to the Tactics Ogre gameplay.

The biggest addition is a new "mental gauge" for all characters, which functions as measurement of moral. A blue tone indicates a positive mental state, while a red hue shows a negative one. Depending on the character's morale, he will receive bonuses or penalties for damage, hit percentages, and defense. The mental state will be determined by which allies or enemies are nearby the affected character. For example, when your party faces a strong creature for the first time their morale will drop, but dragons will gain a morale boost from a nearby Dragon Tamer.

Quest also revealed the game's save capabilities. In addition to three normal save slots, The Knight of Lodis will allow plays to save in the middle of a battle. This will be a permanent save, as opposed to the auto-erasing "suspend" type save offered in Ogre Battle 64, and the player can continue after the game has been saved.

Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis is due out in Japan on June 21 - look for full impressions from the GIA then. Meanwhile, check out 20 new screens of the game in action.
