Final Fantasy X to feature dancing minigame

[04.01.01] » Uematsu to remix popular Final Fantasy songs; Dance Dance Revolution controller to be supported.

In the midst of TGS madness, the latest Shonen Jump has revealed new information regarding Final Fantasy X's second playable minigame, in addition to the previously confirmed Blitzball game. Called "Funky Fantasy," this oddly-named minigame appears similar to Konami's Dance Dance Revolution. A series of flashing arrows moves down the screen, and the player must press the controller in time with the arrows to succeed. Much like Konami's Ephemeral Fantasia, which supports the Guitar Freaks controller for performing "ballads," the Funky Fantasy game lets players use a Dance Dance Revolution-compatible mat to move in time to the music.

Nobuo Uematsu will remix several Final Fantasy songs for the minigame; it's possible vocal tracks from other Square games will find their way into the final version as well. Perhaps the recent call for fans to vote for their favorite song will be used in deciding what songs make the cut; then again, Square might ignore their fans completely.    Thanks to Nick Rox for the Shonen Jump scan and minigame information.
