tri-Ace unveils Star Ocean: Blue Sphere
[03.08.00] » Game Boy Color title to carry on Star Ocean 2's storyline.
tri-Ace today revealed the first details on its previously-announced Star Ocean game for Game Boy Color. Titled Star Ocean: Blue Sphere, the title is a direct sequel taking place two years after the PlayStation's Star Ocean: The Second Story. All 12 playable characters will return in the sequel. Party sizes are limited to three characters a time, though, like before, you'll have a larger roster that you can swap characters in and out of at will.
Other gameplay details are still sketchy, but it's known that fewer shops will appear, meaning that the numerous Item Creation methods will play a greater role in the game. A link cable battle mode will also be included, allowing friends (and enemies) to pit their saved parties against one another's.
Due out this summer in Japan, Star Ocean: Blue Sphere will debut at the Tokyo Game Show. A North American release has yet to be announced, but Enix is reportedly planning to localize seven games in 2000 -- meaning Blue Sphere is almost a sure bet to be one of them.
