Star Ocean for GBC to be new game
[01.25.00] » Star Ocean developer tri-Ace reveals the upcoming Game Boy Color RPG won't be a port after all.
Last month, news broke out that Enix would be releasing a version of its popular Star Ocean RPG series for the Game Boy Color. The title was said to be a remake of the original Star Ocean for the Super Famicom (Super NES), shrunk down to portable proportions. Series developer tri-Ace has now announced that the upcoming title isn't a remake of any kind -- it's a brand new entry in the Star Ocean series, with a new plot and characters. No timeframe for the game was revealed, but it's expected to hit Japan sometime in 2000.
Series fans can also look forward to Star Ocean 3, originally announced as an system title during the PlayStation 2's unveiling. There's no word yet on what fans can expect as the title for the Game Boy Color installment.
