ITEMS TO GET: Army Cardkey, Hob-Steak (x2), Aquasol DX,
Hob-Meat, Hob-Jerky, Fang,
Gold Nugget (x2), Gold Bullion, Zetasol
After all that is over, Fei will wind up alone back
in Etrenank. Since he doesn't speak Solarian, you won't be
able to talk to any of the people here, or buy stuff at
the shop. Just go back to the bureaucratic office that
has the elevator to the watchtower, and talk to the guard
blocking the elevator. It's Citan, and he'll rejoin you
(don't forget to equip him with a Crimson Vest and Feathered
Cap). If you need to go back to buy something (I recommend
having a large stock of items for the grueling dungeon ahead),
you can now -- otherwise, retrace your steps through the
watchtower to F Block. There, go to the dust chute west of
Samson's house (or what used to be Samson's house ^_^) and
jump in. Examine the blinking green light and Elly will show
up, bringing an Army Cardkey with her.
Examine the light again and use the Army Cardkey to
activate the chute. It will suck you through and you'll end
up in a blue-colored area. There's very few enemies in here,
but the ones that you do fight are Security Cubes (the same
ones from the sewers) and Solaris Guards (generic soldier
enemies). You may not even see them at all, though. Just
go through the door at the back of the room you're currently
in and ascend all the stairs. Go through the door and
climb down the short ladder onto the rim around the fan.
Don't hit the fan; it'll knock 50 HP off all your party
members. Carefully move across the room and get behind the
gray block in the southwest corner. Push it into the fan
to stop the blades from spinning. Now move to the north
edge of the pit and jump in. Immediately hold up on the
D-pad to grab the ladder, then climb up it and go through
the door at the top. If you miss the lader, you'll just fall
down to the initial room; it's no big deal.
Beyond the door, you'll face different enemies, and
more of them -- in addition to the Security Cubes and Solaris
Guards, you'll also face Orphans (big gray monsters that
suck your HP and EP and have a tremendous amount of HP;
you might just want to run from them) and the oddly-named
Dorothy monster, which can only be killed by using heal
spells or items on it (all actual attacks will cause it to
gain HP). You might want to equip Cool Shades or Mind
Guards on your characters, as the Dorothies can also confuse
you.
Head northeast, then turn at the corner and go
southeast. Skip the first side passage you come to and
keep going to the end of the current passage for a chest
with a Hob-Steak. Then go back to the passage you skipped
and follow it to a door. Go through, descend the stairs,
and head to the north side of the room. Before you go
through the door, jump on the low crate to the west, then
up to the higher one, then across to the eastern crate.
Open the chest for an Aquasol DX, then drop down and go
through the door (there will be a bit of dialogue before
you can go through).
The music changes in the next section. Climb up the
ladder and go northwest. At the second turn to your right,
descend the ramp and jump across to the next girder.
Go up the steps and head southeast. Jump on the conveyor
belt and then off onto the small moving platform on the
other side. It will move over to form a bridge between the
stairs at the start and a higher ledge. Jump up on to that
higher ledge and open the chest for Hob-Meat. Beyond the
door you'll also find Hob-Jerky and a Fang. Search the
computer for some decidedly-unhelpful "instructions" on how
to solve the puzzle in this area.
Now hop down the stairs back to the entrance of the
green room. Climb up the ladder again, but this time
continue straight all the way to the other side. Get the
Hob-Steak from the chest, then go through the door. Search
the large control panel on the right and a weird puzzle
will pop.
To be honest, I have no clue at all how this puzzle works
and I solved it through simple trial and error. First, don't
change any of the lights, and just hit the Done option. A
chest will fall down with a Gold Nugget. Get it, then leave
the room and come back in. Use the panel again, and this
time turn all four panels in the top row off. Choose Done
and a chest with a Gold Bullion will come down get it. Grab
it, leave, and come back in again. Okay, so far so good,
but this is where I got a little stuck. Here's what I think
you do:
- Turn the second panel off, then choose Done.
- Next, turn the first panel off, and choose Done.
- Turn the fourth panel off, Done.
- Turn the third panel off, Done.
The panels on the bottom row should now be in this pattern:
off, on, off, on. If they are, the conveyor security system
will be go off, and you can leave. If they aren't, then I
goofed, and you're on your own ^_^ (BTW, if anybody could
explain this puzzle and its solution to me, it would be
greatly appreciated).
When you finally manage to turn the security system off,
leave the control room and go back across the girder to the
first set of stairs you come to. Descend and hop onto the
conveyor belt. Now that the security system is off, you can
walk across it to the exit. In the next room, you'll learn
the truth about Solaris's Soylent System. When Citan is
done talking, grab all the chests and exit through the
southwest door. There's a save point here, which I suggest
you use. There's a monstrous dungeon coming up without a lot
of save points, so if you want to quit, do so now. Otherwise,
go east and ride the elevator up to...
