ITEMS TO GET: Hero's Bow, Oath to Order, 15 fairies
Before you can get to Woodfall temple, you must first navigate the irritating swamp of Woodfall. The bridges are guarded by angry Hiploops, and being knocked into the swamp usually gets you placed back where you fell from - which often gets you knocked right back in again. Keep your distance and use bubbles as Deku Link to easily take care of the Hiploops. Make your way around the swamp and you'll reach a slightly raised platform with a Deku drawing. Play the Sonata of Awakening as a Deku and watch Woodfall temple rise from the poisoned waters.
Once inside the temple, fly from flower to flower across the first room, then run down the wooden ramp in the next room and hop across the poisoned water using the open plants. Hop to the Deku flower in the middle of the next room, then fly across to the door. Kill a pair of Snappers for the dungeon map by hiding in the Deku flowers and jumping out when they spin overhead. Go back through the previous room, stopping to fly to the treasure chest on the north ledge. Collect the key and unlock the door by the ramp.
Push the grey block forward, then run around to your right and push it back towards the door you entered through. Take a Deku Stick, light the torch, and run to the unlit torch across the room. To conserve sticks, quickly put them away by pushing the A button after lighting a torch. Go through the newly opened door and kill the dragonflies for the compass by (once again) hiding in the flowers and waiting until they are overhead. Light another Deku Stick, run up the ramp and light the darkened torch, then quickly jump across the two ledges and burn the cobweb blocking the way. Kill the two Deku Babas for more sticks, then transform into Deku Link and head upstairs.
The hallway will get dark quickly and a number of Black Boes will attack. Continue down the hallway and repeatedly use your spin attack. When they're all defeated, a treasure chest will appear. Take a Deku Stick and light the three darkened torches at the east, west, and south ends of the room to open the door. Fly across the next room, taking care to avoid the dragonflies, then head back downstairs.
Step on the switch directly in front of you to activate the ladders, then exit through the door directly behind the switch. Stay on the upper level and exit to the south, killing the Dinolofos in the next room with either Deku Link's bubbles or your sword. Collect the Hero's Bow, shoot the eye switch in the previous room, then fly across to the moving platform and the door. Here you'll confront Gekko - after you hit him, he'll call down a snapper to ride, so hide in the Deku flower again to knock Gekko off. Once they are seperated, transform back to normal Link and arm yourself with the bow. When Gekko crawls off the ceiling and onto a side wall, nail him with an arrow. He'll immediately get back on the snapper, so repeat the process until he dies and gives up access to the Big Key.
Head back to the central room (where the ladders appeared) and take the ladder up to the switch you previously activated. Shoot an arrow through the torch and into the darkened torch on the big flower in the center of the room. Run to the north side of the room to jump/fly onto the now-spinning flower, then shoot an arrow - while spinning - through the lit center torch and into the darkened torch in the northwest corner of the room. Exit through the unbarred north door.
Pause to take out the dragonflies with an arrow, then either jump to the ledge on your right or climb down the ladder to the bottom of the room. If you make the jump, jump to your right again to find a Deku flower, if not, make your way up the platforms on the right until you reach the flower which is roughly level with the crystal switch on the right side of the room. Activate the switch to douse the fire, then change into Deku Link to fly across to the flower which was blocked by the flames. Use that flower to fly to the boss's door.
BOSS: ODOLWA
This masked jungle warrior boasts a sword at least three times as long as Link is tall. Avoid his jumping slashes, then nail him with an arrow after he misses and before he begins chanting. If he grabs his head, run in and take a few slashes. When he calls down smaller creatures to help fight, dispatch them quickly with your sword. Eventually, he'll summon a swarm of moths to annoy you, use the bombs flowers in the corners to destroy them. Block his spinning sword attack, and even though he'll surround you with flame to make the battlefield smaller, just stick to your basic dodge and slash attacks. Enjoy the easy boss while you can.
Once he is defeated, collect a heart container and his remains, then learn a new song watch the poisioned swamp become clean again. When you regain control, slash the vines blocking the door behind you and talk to the Deku Princess. Put her in a bottle (if they can fit in a flower...) and take her back to the king. Free the monkey, then talk to the bulter for an extra challenge that's available where an Octorok once blocked the path to the left of the palace.
