ITEMS TO GET: Powder Keg, Empty Bottle, Romani's Mask
Before you can access the Great Bay area, you must first reclaim your horse. After being stolen by Skull Kid, Epona ended up at Romani Ranch, located southwest of Clock Town. Unfortunately, Skull Kid also dropped a large boulder in the path to the ranch, and while the man working there will clear the path by the last day, you'll need to get there on the first day to get your horse. That can only be done by using the powerful powder keg.
On the first day, head to the cave south of Goron Village that is iced over. Open it with a fire arrow and speak to the Goron inside as Goron Link. He'll offer you use of the powder keg, but you must first pass his test, which is to use a powder keg to open the boulder blocking the Goron Races. The boulder is located to the left of the entrance to the area with the rope bridges and undeground hot spring.
Once you pass the test, the Goron will apologize for putting you in danger and give you a free powder keg. Soar to Milk Road and set the powder keg down in front of the boulder as Goron Link. Snicker as the worker runs away, then watch the explosion. With the road cleared, head into Romani Ranch.
Assuming the ranch is still open on the first day, you'll see Romani playing outside the barn. Accept her challenge and pop the ten balloons spread throughout the ranch, checking for their locations on your map. She'll then teach you Epona's Song and ask you to help her defend the barn against cow-stealing aliens. If you're a jerk, you can just take your horse and continue on to Great Bay, but a real hero returns that night to help.
Use the Bunny Hood if you have it and watch your map for the locations of the aliens. The main challenge comes from shooting the occasional alien who tries to sneak up on the barn from behind, so keep an eye out for them on the map. You can complete this challenge with or without riding Epona, but if you lose, Romani gets kidnapped and you'll have to restart the 72 hour period to try again.
If you succeed, Cremia will be preparing to make her delivery the next morning. Accept the offer to ride along, one which soon turns into a protection job when the wagon is diverted and attacked. Your job is to stop the thieves from getting to the wagon by hitting them repeatedly with arrows. Luckily, you have unlimited arrows, so fire away until the wagon is safely off of Milk Road. Cremia will praise your bravery and reward you the Romani's Mask. With the day saved, you can now move on to Great Bay.
