Quest 8 Huntin' Du'Cate More quests

Prerequisites: AF Medallion

You may want to bring Bud along for this quest, since you'll meet one of the Seven (six) Wisdoms.

Use the AF Medallion to create the Jungle. When you enter, you'll be introduced to Mr. Fuddy-Duddy Sotherbee, Skippie, and Hamson, and be assigned to hunt down the monster Du'Cate. Begin by moving one screen northeast, then turning around and marching back to the entrance. A "vewwy wawe Wiwipea" will sprint by you into the screen you just left. Return there and talk to the Lilipea. It will start moving slowly to the north. Wait until it leaves the screen (don't disturb it or it will start all over), then follow it. Skippie will run by when you enter the next screen.

On the next screen, talk to the Lilipea to get it started, then get out of the way. Follow it to the exit. Talk to the Lilipea yet again and follow it through the brush to the Greenwood Gardens. Defeat all the enemies here and a penguin will appear. Talk to it and it casts a spell on you. Leave the Greenwood Gardens and the Lilipea will be waiting for you. Trigger it by talking and follow it back off to the right. Again, follow it backwards through the next screen to the main, faerie-populated intersection.

Hamson will be here; he runs off before you can talk to him. Follow him to the right two screens. A new path will be available, and Hamson charges through it. Follow him down the path, and continue east on the next screen. Hamson and Skippie disappear down a path in the background; chase them into the Forested Ruins. Take the north path here to Rosiotti's Throne. Talk to Duane, then turn around and go back to the Forested Ruins. Speak with Skippie, then go back north and talk to the now-awakened Rosiotti. He asks you to get rid of Du'Cate.

Take the lower fork from the Forested Ruins; you'll end up in the Forest of Faeries. The Faeries don't take too kindly to your presence and warp you back to the entrance -- which is just where you wanted to be anyway. Proceed to the main intersection; you'll find Skippie wandering around here. Talk to him and choose to work with him alone (not with Hamson!) and he'll dash off in search of Du'Cate. Exit to the north. Hamson is stationed on the next screen; ally with him (again, by choosing to work "alone"). Turn around and go back to the main intersection. Head east twice and go down the path Hamson created. This time, instead of veering off into the Forested Ruins, continue due east into Du'Cate Territory. Equip a spear or staff, then fight your way all the way to the Spring of the Beasts.

If you recruited both Skippie and Hamson, you'll finally be able to fight Du'Cate. He looks the same as the Du'Inke in the Mekiv Caverns, but Du'Cate hangs from a branch, making him harder to hit. Use the spear or staff's X button combo to hit him.

When you defeat Du'Cate, you're taken back to the entrance of the jungle. Sotherbee "wewawds" you with 500 Lucre; choose to give it to the others. Shocked by your generosity, Fuddy-Duddy will give you either the AF Ancient Tablet or (if you already have it) some metal, and you clear this lengthy quest.

Li'l Cactus' quote: "Got lost?"
Cactus Diary:
"Today my master saw a really big tree-hanging monkey and a really BIG red animal with really BIG attitude. Why can't they be like me?"
