Walkthrough | Chapter 8 | Ancient Winds | More... |
ITEMS TO GET: Honey, Silver Compass, Wisdom Water, Door of Light,
Healing Bloom, Magic Water, Door of Wind x2
Leave the monastery; you'll notice the
world map music has changed now that the Mist is gone. If
you want, go back to Mei's house in Rim Elm to see a scene
there. While in Rim Elm, you can also examine the southern
most tree in the village to start a battle with some bees;
winning you net you Honey, which boosts all your stats.
Otherwise, head north past West Voz Forest to the cave
at the north end of the map, the Ancient Wind Cave. There's no
enemies inside; it's just a maze.
Take the left route at the first fork
you come to and speak with the old wizard. You can buy
equipment; there's some new equipment available for
Noa. Check the back of the wizard's cave for a lever
that will open the door blocking the right path. Also
check the barrels; one of them contains a Silver Compass,
and another holds Wisdom Water.
Take the right path from the exit and
continue until you reach another fork. Go right and grab
the Door of Light from the chest, then take the north
fork. You'll reach a room similar to the last one; this
time, go north first and you'll find a Healing Bloom in
a chest. Then head east until you reach another door.
Pass through and you'll meet the Old Witch. She insists
that you stay at her inn (even if you answer no, you still
end up spending the night).
During the night, your party receives a
message from Hari to visit him. When you awake, search the
barrels on the left for Magic Water, then head north
towards the exit. The Old Witch will run over and give you
two Doors of Wind, which can be used to teleport to any
town you've visited. They'll come in handy when navigating
the islands, where locations are far apart. After the
dialogue concludes, continue north and follow the path to
the exit.
You're now on the Sebucus Islands map.
Cross the bridges, heading north and west, until you reach Jeremi,
the first town on the map (hit L1 to look at it). Jeremi is covered
by the Mist, so everyone is possessed by Seru. You'll be back there
in a moment, for now just step in, then leave and continue until you
reach the next town, Vidna (with the windmills outside).
Thanks to the windmills, Vidna is protected
from the Mist. It's a big town, so take some time to explore
(but don't pay the tour guide; everything he tells you can find
out from other people). There's also quite a lot of items to
be found in people's cabinets: the top floor of the Inn has
a Door of Light and a Healing Leaf; the Item Shop has 10
Healing Leaves in a cupboard; and the Weapon Shop has a Magic
Leaf for your taking. Don't let the high prices in the weapon
shop scare you; you don't need the stuff in it, and you're not
really supposed to be here right now anyway. If you can
afford anything (particularly new weapons), by all means buy
it, though.
Also, in the building adjoining the hot
springs (the big orange one), you can find a guy who will
give you 10 coins for the nearby slot machine. If you
exhaust that supply, you can buy more (from the same guy)
for 100 G a piece -- but, like all RPG slot machines, it's
basically a rip-off, and since money is so limited in
Legaia, you should steer clear. If by some fluke you do
manage to win a lot of coins, you can exchange them for
items by telling the guy you don't want to buy coins, and
then answering "Yes" to his second question.
Rest up at the inn, and then return to
Jeremi (either on foot or by using a Door of Wind) for
the next leg of your journey.
