ITEMS TO GET: Phoenix, Target Chain, Healing Flower, Guardian Ring, Power Water, Zalan's Letter, Yuma's Ring, Zalan's Crown, Star Pearl

   After some weird scenes, you'll wake up refreshed in the Jeremi inn. Now it's time to loot the town! Search all the cabinets and chests around town for a Pheonix, Target Chain, Healing Flower, Power Water, and Guardian Ring. Also, in the bar (upper-left building), talk to the guy in red in the back and tell him he's not a bum; he'll teach your characters more Arts (you may have them already, though). If you haven't already used the Fire Book II on Vahn, don't forget to do so.

   Talk to Zalan, in the lower-left house. He'll give you a letter to take to his son Pepe in Vidna. Walk or warp to Vidna and go up to the upper tier of the city (the one with grass on it). Head to the upper-left most house and talk to Pepe. He'll give you Yuma's Ring. Also, if you haven't already, be sure to meet Sashia; she's in the house one to the right from the lower-left. Then return to Jeremi and Zalan will give you Zalan's Crown.

   Return to Octam. From the entrance, walk to straight ahead and pass through the big wooden door (pathetically enough, this door took Fritz several days to find). Continue straight ahead through the passage and enter the front of the golden tomb-like thing. Go down the stairs and you'll be in a room with four statues and four books. Examine all the statues, and read all the books. One of the pedestals will move to reveal a staircase once you've done so. Go down the stairs and try to enter the elevator at the bottom. Some scenes will occur, and you'll meet Cara the thief.

   Leave Octam (you can just use a Door of Light) and return to Jeremi. Talk to Zalan once again and he'll give you the Star Pearl necessary to open Shadow Gate.
