ITEMS TO GET: Elixir (x2), Capricorn Zodiac Coin
Daguerreo is located on a large mountainous island in the southwest corner of the map -- it's hard to miss. Land your airship atop the plateau and enter the cave. This is the water city of Daguerreo, and you'll run into a couple of old friends here.

In the room on the left, you'll find Kildea, one of the priests from the Cleyra settlement. There's a small scene if you talk to him. There's also a machine on the wall; you can use the levers to manipulate the blocks on the left. Pull the third lever several times until the leftmost block is all the way at the bottom. Examine it, then go pick up the stick leaning across the bookcase. Zidane will automatically wedge it in the hole and use it to block the left column. Now use the first lever to move the rightmost column all the way to the bottom. Examine it with the exclamation mark and ride it up to the top level. Talk to the green guy to buy weapons and armor (you only get the shop options if you reach him by riding the block up). A lot of this equipment won't be available later on, so be sure to do your shopping now.
Back in the main room, you can throw generic healing stones into the fountain in the background; if you put enough in, you'll get some Amethysts back out. In the lower-right corner of the room, on the bridge, is the Capricorn Zodiac Coin; it's in the water.
The room on the right has an elevator that will take you up to the second level. There's a blacksmith and Save Moogle up here, as well as the basilisk guy you met in Treno. However, he won't deal with you unless you have the highest card rank. Further to the left is a long balcony; the inn and library are located on the left side. There's also a large block on the wall to the right of the library. Examine and choose the first option to push it out of the way. Then move all the way left until a question mark appears. Choose the first option to drop down to the balcony below.
You can go back up by activating the question mark. There's an Elixir in a chest on each end (left and right) of this balcony. The one on the right is a little hard to get to, as there's an annoying guy who keeps blocking the path. Wait for him to start shelving books, then squeeze by him. Also, on the left side of the balcony, there's a guy who will change your names if you have the Namingway Card. (You don't lose the card -- you just have to have the card before the man will deal with you.)
