Chapter 2 I WANT THE SEXY DWARVE More walkthrough

ITEMS TO GET: 300 gil, Potion (x6), Ether, Eyedrop, Tent, Goblin Card (x3), Fang Card (x3), Skeleton Card, Flan Card, Lizardman Card, Zombie Card, Bomb Card, Aeronaut Card, Sahagin Card

The action now switches over to VIVI, who's introduced in a brief CG sequence that completes the opening credits. From VIVI's starting point, head east into the first building. Move up next to the bed on the left and an exclamation mark will appear over VIVI's head. Hit Circle to search and you'll receive 9 gil. Search the table as well for a Potion. Move in front of the ladder and trigger the exclamation mark to get VIVI on the ladder. Climb up to the bunk beds and look for the exclamation mark at the back. You'll get a Fang Card here, the first of many QuadMist playing cards.

Leave the building and head south to the front gates of the town, which contains another slew of items to find. Search the boxes in the foreground for a Zombie Card. Then head north and climb up the stairs in front of the stairs. Hit circle when the exclamation mark and VIVI will uncover a Sahagin Card. Next, wander around behind the statue in center of the statue; you'll find a third exclamation mark spot at the back of the screen. This one contains a Lizardman Card. Finally, check the left side of the statue for a Potion.

Exit the way you came. Back on the street, search the left side of the screen for another exclamation point, which yields a third Potion. Head north and a mouse guy -- Pack -- will knock VIVI down. He runs off again. Continue on your way and check the flowers on the left for a fourth Potion. Proceed north to the next screen and you'll see a brief automated scene concering a tour group from Treno. When you regain control of VIVI, check the grass in the foreground for 33 gil. Continue west -- skip the bar for now -- and search the grass on the left side of the scene for a Goblin Card.

Head north to the next screen and enter the shop on the right. You can buy items -- Potion, Phoenix Down, Antidote, Eyedrop, and Tent, in order -- here if you want, though you shouldn't need to. You should, however, grab the 38 gil from the barrel in the foreground.

Leave the shop and pass through the gates to the town square. Skip the ticket booth for now; instead, search around the north end of the plaza for a Phoenix Pinion. It functions the same as Phoenix Down, but can only be used in battles. Then head to the right and collect the 160 gil hidden in the exclamation spot outside the building. Enter the building and search around for another 30 gil, as well as an Ether. On the left side of the plaza, you'll see some kids playing jump rope. You can earn rare QuadMist cards by playing with them; see the Jump Rope sidequest for more details.

Exit southwest from the town square and head through the alley to the docks. The first building on VIVI's right has a sign listing the jump rope high scores, and the third one has a door you can go in. Inside, you'll find an Eyedrop (on the far left) and 3 gil upstairs on the bed. On the far left side of the docks, you'll find a boy named Tom. Talk to him and agree to help him find his lost cat. Return to the statue square (where you found the Sahagin Card) and talk to the cat meandering around. Tom will run in and claim his kitty; return to the docks and talk to him afterwards for a Bomb Card.

Now enter the church on the docks screen. Search the grass around the edges of the room for a Potion and valuable Tent, then climb up the ladder to the bell tower. Choose the first option to ring the bell. A chest hidden inside the bell will fall out; it contains an Aerobat Card, a Goblin Card, and a Fang Card.

After getting the chest in the church, return to the town square and approach the center booth. Trigger the exclamation mark and choose the first option to speak with the booth operator. Choose the first option to hand over VIVI's ticket to the play; it turns out to be a fake, but the ticket collector gives VIVI a Goblin Card, a Fang Card, and a Skeleton Card in consolation. You can then choose the other options to

Return to the alley between the marketplace and the docks. If you've cashed in the tacket, Dante, the man on the ladder, will leave. Pack then enters; choose any of the dialogue options. Pack suggests that he and VIVI steal Dante's ladder and use it to sneak into the Prima Vista play. Choose the first option; if you pick the second, Pack will run off. (If you select this by mistake, just return to the marketplace, re-enter the alley, and talk to Pack again.) VIVI then guards the alley while Pack swipes the ladder. Again, choose the first option. (This time, choosing the second option just prompts Pack to ask you the question again.)

After Pack runs off with the ladder, another guy (Jack) will enter. Talk to him. You'll be transported to the bar, where the man will teach you to play QuadMist, Final Fantasy IX's card game. Select each menu option in sequence (the ones highlighted with "NEW"), and eventually you'll be able to play. (See the QuadMist section for information on how to play.) Also in the bar, you can find 27 gil under the table on the left, a Flan Card in the barrel next to it, and a Potion on the right side of the room. Maggie, the waitress, also carries Nymph Cards that you can win. Almost every citizen in Alexandria is a QuadMist player, so you should be able to build your collection quickly -- especially if you obtained some rare cards from the jump rope game.

When you're ready to complete this scenario, follow Pack into the church. Search the grass around the edges of the room for a Potion and valuable Tent, then try to climb up the ladder. A Moogle, Kupo, falls down and explains about MOGNET. To save your game, talk to him and choose the first option twice. (Yes, Moogles are FF IX's save points.) The second option lets you use a Tent to restore your party's HP; there's no reason to do this now. The third option is the MOGNET menu; choose this and pick the top option twice to set up a future MOGNET exchange.

After speaking with Kupo, hit Circle to get on the ladder. Climb up to the top of the tower and Pack will use his pilfered ladder to make a bridge out onto the rooftops.
