Ever do a double take at a piece of art, initially mistaking it for a photograph? That's what might happen when you catch sight of new artist Keilen Elise's "Squall." Made with charcoal, the piece virtually jumps off the screen with its stunning yet down-to-earth realism. The shading is exquisitely subtle, the features unerringly true to life. Definitely a "don't miss."
Hydrachild clocks in with two pieces today. The first, "Rudy," captures a vivid sense of action created by the smoking gun barrel jammed in the viewer's face, the lively background, and Rudy's energetic stance, billowing jacket, and bad ass facial expression. "Come to me..." is on the other end of the spectrum, to say the least. As the ever observant Brian Glick pointed out, this isn't the first time Link has been subject to, er, brow raising female interpretation. What a stud.
"Miang," another eye pleasing Xenogears portrait from the twisted mind of J. Parish, Kei's "Meditation Disturbance," and Kouryuu's "Agrias' Vow" close things out. Kouryuu's piece boasts character art complemented by poetry, all enshrouded in an intriguing lighting effect that dominates the piece. "Agrias' Vow" also probably sets the Sketch Artist record for most media utilized in a single work -- yowza.
