Artist's Commentary

I've drawn Valvalis once before, and I really thought I had done a good job. Still, a few people seemed to think it looked awkward, and so I felt the need to try again. And, this time, I think I might have succeeded.
I wanted to depict her as vulnerable, at the moment in which she realized (as monsters must often do in the seconds before they are slain) she was not as strong as she had boasted. Angry that she was wrong about her powers. And, being the sadistic type anyway, probably thinking it was funny, too. I wanted her to look beautiful but twisted -- a human form, yes, but somewhat animalistic in nature. Kind of like an evil faerie.
I had some problems with the foreshortening of her right arm. It still doesn't look right, but I can't seem to get it to look any better than how it does now. Still, I'm rather proud of the proportioning on this piece, and I think I did a good job on her ... uh ... apparel.
