Space World movies
[08.27.99] » Nintendo unleashes movies of Zelda Gaiden, Pokémon Gold and Silver, Acorn of the Mystical Tree, and more.
Nintendo's Space World show is underway in Japan, and the company recently updated its Japanese home page with a number movies of the games on display. By far the most impressive of the movies is the clip of Zelda: Acorn of the Mystical Tree, which demonstrates some of the Game Boy Color title's new features. Link uses the Rod of Seasons to rapidly shift seasons -- in one scene, a house buried under a deep snowfall during the winter is freed when Link uses the Rod to shift to the springtime. It's similar to the Light and Dark Worlds of Zelda 3, but with four different worlds instead of two.
The other movies also include noteworthy footage. Mother 3's movie introduces a number of the game's characters, while the Zelda Gaiden and Super Mario Adventure movies center around various gameplay clips. Unfortunately, the highly anticipated Gold and Silver editions of Pokémon remain under cover; the postage stamp-sized movie of Pokémon Gold shows little that hasn't already been seen before.
