Atlus of Japan releases Nail More

[07.26.99] » Arcade press-on nail creator to revolutionize the gaming world.

Virtua Fighter and Tekken, move aside. The arcades have a new champion: Atlus of Japan's recently-released Nail More. While the title (not to mention an advertisement featuring several Japanese girls clustered around an arcade booth) may evoke images of a pornographic dating sim, rest assured that Nail More is indisputably the world's first, and likely last, press-on nail creating sim.

The concept is simple, but sure to achieve unprecedented success in today's crowded gaming world: after inserting a coin, users can select from a variety of background colors and small pictures to decorate their nails with. Nearly 100 different icons are available, including such exciting categories as "Season," "POP," and "Cute." Then, users insert their fingers into the Nail More machine, and voila! A brand new set of press-on nails! Particularly adventuresome creators can even use some simple drawing tools to create their own nail designs, a feature likely to vault Nail More to "Game of the Year" status. And how can Nail More's catchy slogan -- "Nail de cha cha cha!!" -- be destined for anything less than pop culture stardom?

Nail More's announcement is already sending shock waves through the online gaming world. "Dude, you just know that it's going to be the hottest thing ever," said Pete Bartholow, freelance writer for videogames.com and "total hardcore old-school videogames freak."

"You're kidding, right? ...right?" said GIA agent Brian Glick, before rushing to see whether the machine included his favorite color of pink.

"I like the panda bear the best," added fellow agent Fritz Fraundorf.

Don't expect to see Nail More appearing in U.S. arcades any time soon -- but if it does, rumor has it that the controversial magenta color could be censored.
