Climax makes changes for US Blue Stinger

[07.02.99] » Details reveal that Blue Stinger will arrive on American shores with an improved camera scheme.

When Blue Stinger was released in Japan a short while back, it met with lukewarm reviews. Most were in agreement that the graphics were excellent, the game was action packed, and the characters were well-designed. Unfortunately, it was plauged with camera problems. The camera seemed to drift about aimlessly, and deaths and control problems were the result. If these problems should be addressed in time for the American release, Blue Stinger would be an exponentially improved game.

The news revealed by Climax Graphics' own development diary on their webpage would indicate that these wishes have been granted. Along with some tweaking done to the existing camera system, two new schemes have been added for the stateside release. First is the auto-follow camera, which as the name implies follows carefully behind the player as he puts those alient scum back in their place. Secondly is the look-around camera, again the name should make its use obvious, as it allows the player to survey his or her surroundings.

With these tweaks, early Dreamcast adopters could have an vastly improved game on their hands when the system is released this September. Look for more coverage as the game's release nears.
