Final Fantasy VII finally joins Greatest Hits
[06.29.99] » Imminent arrival of Final Fantasy VIII pushes its predecessor into Sony's low-price line.
Though the game's strong sales certainly merited a place in Sony's "Greatest Hits" line long ago, Final Fantasy VII has managed to maintain steady sales
even at a normal price. With Final Fantasy VIII on the horizon, however, Sony has finally
placed FF VII in its Greatest Hits line of lower-priced titles -- FF VII can now be
found for a mere $25.
"Acknowledging Square's long-time heritage for superior gaming content, Final Fantasy VII proved to be a bona fide hit long before its inclusion in the 'Greatest Hits' series, but now we are able to take the critically-acclaimed adventure to a new level," said Andrew House, vice president, marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America.
"We are pleased that Final Fantasy VII has been recognized as one of the world's top PlayStation titles," said Square EA president Jun Iwasaki. "The Final Fantasy team prides itself in delivering the best game experience available in terms of storyline and gameplay. Based on the title's record-breaking sales worldwide, Final Fantasy VII clearly delivered on all fronts."
