Langrisser Millenium details
[06.03.99] » Developer Masaya releases the first information
on Langrisser Millennium: The Birthday Eve.
A few days ago, on June 1st, Japanese developer Masaya
announced the first details on the sixth chapter of its popular strategy
RPG series. Titled Langrisser Millenniuim: The Birthday Eve, the latest
Langrisser game will not only be the first one on Dreamcast, but the first
in 3D as well.
Five different main characters can be selected; although
no information on their personalities was available, their voices will all
be provided by popular Japanese radio actors. Each character rules a different
area of the globe, and your goal is to assimilate the others.
In an attempt to "take the series in a new direction,"
Masaya will incorporate some real-time elements into the battles. For less
action-oriented gamers, an auto battle option will likely be available, as well
as selectable difficulty levels.
Masaya seems to be making rapid progress on the game and is
confident that the game will ship in Japan by the end of the year, though
industry analysts hint that it may be delayed until 2000. U.S. gamers
shouldn't get their hopes up for a translation just yet -- the only Langrisser
game to ever make it out of Japan was the first one, released in North America
as Warsong. However, with RPGs continuing to gain popularity, it's possible
that a publisher may pick up the title after all. Stay tuned.
