E3: Lunar 2: Eternal Blue details and impressions
[05.13.99] » Taking place a millenium after the original Lunar: Silver Star Story, Working Designs' latest will encompass 5 total CDs -- thanks to special packaging, of course.
While the nearly-confirmed Lunar: Silver Star Story for PC was not on display within Working Designs' booth at the E3 tradeshow, the company was eager to showcase the next game in the Lunar series -- Lunar 2: Eternal Blue. The RPG was originally released on the Sega CD system after the (relative) success of Lunar, and has since been ported to the Sega Saturn in Japan. Taking place a millenium after Lunar: Silver Star Story, the game features the adventures of a young hero named, appropriately enough, Hiro.
Set to be released for the PlayStation in Winter '99, Working Designs is hoping to match, or even exceed, the extensive packaging found within Lunar: Silver Star Story. 5 CDs will be included with Lunar 2: 3 in-game CDs, a soundtrack CD, and a making-of CD, in addition to the many other additions sure to be included. About an hour of movie-quality animation is promised, mixing both anime and CG, as well as over 90 minutes of audio dialog. Better yet, the company has revealed that a demo of Lunar 2 will be released with Detonator Gauntlet, a strategy RPG set for release sometime this year (more later). It is indeed a great time to be an RPG enthusiast.
