Konami announces Castlevania Special Edition info
[05.10.99] » To be shown at E3, the oddly-titled Castlevania Special Edition is actually a sequel to Castlevania 64.
Castlevania returns to N64 as Konami releases details on a sequel to Castlevania 64, called Castlevania Special Edition. The game utilizes an engine similar to Castlevania 64's, again taking place in 3D polygons, and is scheduled to be released this fall.
The game traces the adventures of Kohnel, the werewolf main character, who is searching for Dracula, before either Reinhardt Schneider or Carrie Fernandez appear. Kohnel, however, seems to be unsure of whether he is to kill Dracula, or join him instead. The werewolf was originally slated as a secret character to the first N64 Castlevania, but was cut at the last minute in favor of working on the story for Reinhardt and Carrie. Nothing more is known about the new features of the title or the possibility of returning characters, but more information is likely to be appear at E3.
