While speaking with the GIA, a representative for Nintendo today confirmed that Crystalis would join the lineup of Nintendo Entertainment System titles ported to the Game Boy Color. For those not familiar with the classic hit, Crystalis is a fantastic top-down, hack-and-slash action RPG which takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. In the game, a massive war has wiped out much of human civilization, and you must combat mutated animals and other foes to save the world. To be shown at E3, Crystalis for the Game Boy Color will be nearly identical to the NES original, with only a few minor modifications. No firm release date was given, though the title is expected sometime in 1999.

Nintendo of America also announced today that sales of the Game Boy have increased by 250% in this year's first quarter in comparison to the same period last year. Attributing the sales primarily to the introduction of the Game Boy Color and the Pokémon frenzy, the company also announced that four new casing colors -- dandelion, berry, kiwi, and teal -- are now on sale. In addition, the classic Super Mario Bros. will be re-released for the Game Boy Color on May 10 as Super Mario Bros. Deluxe.

The GIA will be on hand to provide full impressions of Crystalis for GBC from the floor at E3.
