Anachronox trailer released

[04.22.99] » The first movie of Ion Storm's console-style PC RPG hits the web.

Ion Storm recently released a trailer of its upcoming PC RPG, Anachronox, and it's looking extremely impressive. Although the console-style RPG isn't yet an actual console game, this movie was just too cool to ignore.

The two-minute trailer features some astounding graphics courtesy of a heavily modified version of the Quake II engine. Sprawling futuristic cityscapes inhabited by numerous citizens are intercut by serene forests filled with realistic trees, all rendered at a high level of detail -- characters are made up of around 600 polygons, with the main characters using over 150 polygons just for facial expressions.

The possibilities for a Dreamcast port of Anachronox remain strong, as producer Tom Hall has told the GIA that "the interface is being designed with consoles in mind." This could well be your first glimpse at a future console hit.
