Soul Hackers scores big

[04.07.99] » The latest issue of Famitsu magazine rates Soul Hackers a 34 out of 40.

 Paradigm-X
Paradigm-X awaits

Long regarded as one of the most stringent gaming publications around, Japan's Famitsu magazine recently awarded Atlus' PSX port of Soul Hackers with an overall score of 34/40. Individual scores of of 9, 8, 9, and 8 added up to the total ranking. Part of the wildly successful Megami Tensei series, Soul Hackers was originally released for the Sega Saturn last year. In the game, a corrupt government has created a virtual city known as Paradigm-X designed to harvest human souls. Soon after discovery of the government's nefarious plans, the game's main character, a counter-culture computer hacker, vows to combat the scheme. (Sounds pretty similar to The Matrix...)

The PlayStation port of Soul Hackers is set for release tomorrow in Japan, on April 8. Much to the disappointment and outrage of RPG enthusiasts, a US release of Soul Hackers has been rejected by Sony Computer Entertainment America.
