TGS: Persona announced for PC release
[03.22.99] » Atlus's PlayStation RPG reaches the PC with some
extra accessories included.
One of the many surprises to appear at the Tokyo Game Show
was the appearance of a PC version of Atlus's Persona. One of the numerous entries
in the Megami Tensei series, Persona was released several years on the PlayStation,
making it a rather odd choice for a PC port. (Soul Hackers, a subsequent Megami Tensei
title, has since been released, and Persona 2 is also in the works).
To make the new version more appealing, Atlus is including
several extra programs with the title, including Persona screen savers and a calendar.
An unspecified type of program featuring the ever-popular Jack Frost, the Megami
Tensei mascot, is included as well.
Persona is not the first console RPG released on the PC, however:
A PC version of Final Fantasy VII garnered moderate sales last year, and Square
recently announced a PC port of Parasite Eve was in
the works.
The PC edition of Persona will be released March 25 in Japan.
A North American release is basically out of the question, so don't go looking for
Persona in the PC section of your local Electronics Boutique any time soon.
