Set for a June 24, 1999 release, Slayers Royal 2, a popular Saturn RPG, has been confirmed for a Japanese PlayStation remake. The sequel to Slayers Royal, Slayers Royal 2 was released for the Sega Saturn last September in Japan, quickly becoming the top seller for the month behind Metal Gear Solid. In addition to the isometric 3D graphics and colorful visuals, the PlayStation port will contain new dungeons, anime sequences, and full support for Sony's Dual Shock controller.
Slayers Royal is based on an extremely popular Japanese anime, manga, and series of motion pictures. Many have hoped Slayers Royal 2 would be Working Designs' upcoming Mystery RPG, though the company has denied the possibility. (An official announcement is now expected at this year's E3.) With titles like Grandia, Lunar 2: EB, and Star Ocean 2 virtually guaranteed for a North American release, though, Slayers Royal 2 could still end up on American shores.
