Lunar: SSS adds two-player support

[02.28.99] » The PlayStation remake of Working Designs' Sega CD RPG classic will allow a second player to join in.

Almost certainly thanks to multiple requests from fans through email and message boards, Working Designs CEO Victor Ireland has announced that two-player support has been added to the upcoming Lunar: Silver Star Story PlayStation remake. Differing from previous two-player RPGs like Final Fantasy VI, Lunar will allow the second controller to take control at any moment in the game, from battles to overhead exploration. Priority is given to the first controller, however -- if any input is received through the first controller port, the second port is temporarily ignored. Analog and Dual Shock support is also available on both ports, meaning both players will feel the vibrations included in Lunar.

Interestingly enough, Working Designs originally intended to include five player support, but "that requires a multi-tap library be linked in and we don't have enough RAM," according to Ireland. Lunar: Silver Star Story is estimated for a late March / early April release. For a full list of new features in the remake, feel free to check out the GIA's comprehensive preview.
