Seiken Densetsu 4 more than rumor?
[02.25.99] » GameFan Online claims a new title in the Seiken Densetsu series (commonly known as Secret of Mana) is more than just idle speculation.
While rumors of another title in the Seiken Densetsu series have been floating around for a few weeks, all details heard so far has been unsubstantiated hearsay. The grapevine spoke of a fourth Seiken Densetsu game in development for the Sony PlayStation, set for release sometime in 1999. A demo of the game, according to the rumors, would be included with SaGa Frontier 2 in Japan on April 1. But that's all they were -- rumors. Like many such stories floating around the Internet, the veracity of such speculation was quickly called into question.
Now, however, GameFan Online is going beyond pure speculation, stating that such a game does indeed exist. According to the site, the fourth game in the Seiken Densetsu series is tentatively titled "Seiken Densetsu: The Legend of Mana." A demo is reportedly set for inclusion with SaGa Frontier 2 on its April 1 release date over in Japan. Curiously enough, though, no "4" is included in the game's tentative title. Could Square be continuing its string of remakes?
For those unfamiliar with the Seiken Densetsu series, the first game to bear its name did so only in Japan -- over in North America, it was called Final Fantasy Adventure, a Game Boy title. The second Seiken Densetsu is the game most English-speaking players are familiar with, known as Secret of Mana in North America. Seiken Densetsu 3 was, unfortunately, never (legally) translated.
